Background: EHCLC provides computer learning. Because of the value of our I.T. equipment we needed to secure our building for peace of mind and to ensure our commitment to deliver quality computer learning opportunities would not be compromised.

The problem: EH CLC is housed in an unconventionally designed building, the ground floor was easy enough to make secure, however, above that the main part of the building is dome shaped and comprises many windows which could attract a determined burglar. Any solution would need to blend in well with the existing fabric of the building so as not to create an eyesore, an added complication was that most work would be carried out at a height of 5 metres.

Solution: Extruded aluminium compact automatic roller shutters operating by low level rocker switch were fitted internally to prevent access via the second floor windows and Vandalshield window protection.

“I thought it would be almost impossible to fully secure our building but I quickly realised that I had made the right decision when I called in East Yorkshire Shutters. I was pleased that James Puplett (the managing director) came out personally. It was very reassuring to know that we were being looked after by the man at the top! We discussed a range of potential solutions but most had to be ruled out because of the nature of our premises, the practicality of day to day use and the aesthetic we wanted to preserve.”

“With the work to be carried out at height and while the centre was open I needed to be confident that work would be carried out safely. With East Yorkshire Shutters being CHAS accredited that concern was allayed.”

“I think we have an elegant solution to our problem and I am very pleased that the work was completed on time and to a very high standard. I have already recommended East Yorkshire Shutters and will continue to do so.”

Background: Clearway is an industrial cleaning company specialising in drain and sewer works and liquid waste disposal which was relocating due to expansion .

The problem: New premises while ideal for the operation of the enlarged business did not afford the security required by owner Mike Butler. Premises in the area can be subject to petty vandalism and burglary.

Solution: Full height roller shutters to office building, heavy duty automatic sliding gate and sharks tooth protected railings, decorative wrought iron wall infill to the boundary wall.

“I had seen shutters installed by East Yorkshire Shutters before and was pretty impressed so I called them to discuss protecting my office building, during this conversation I became aware that EYS could satisfy all my company’s security requirement needs”

“Because they offer a complete solution I saved time and money. I didn’t need to see three or four companies for every element of the job and because EYS did all the work the price was much less than if the work had been done piecemeal, in addition everything was coordinated by them reducing disruption to my business.”

“I told them what I wanted they told me what I could and couldn’t do and explained the best solution for me and why it was the best solution. I’m delighted with the work which was completed to a very high standard, on time and within budget. They are an easy company to deal with”

Background: Having gained promotion to the Superleague Hull KR’s Craven Park stadium was in need of renovation and had become more recently a target for theft and vandalism .

The problem: The existing roller shutters were mostly manually operated and secured by two bullet locks in each shutter, because of the number of shutters on the stadium opening and closing them all was a lengthy task, in addition there were potential health and safety risks associated with old and infrequently maintained manually operated shutters. On match days the club needs to get up to 10,000 people into and out of the stadium quickly and safely.

Solution: New automatic roller shutters powder coated in the clubs colour and where possible conversion of manually operated shutters to automatic operation.

“Because of the sheer number of manually operated shutters we had problems with staff not putting all the bullet locks in each shutter and a huge number of keys. When I took over some of the shutters were in a pretty poor condition very heavy to lift and prone to jamming”

“The replacement cost would have been huge! When East Yorkshire Shutters told me that they could convert many of the manual shutters to automatic operation, even though it would mean less profit for them, I knew they were looking after my and the club’s best interests ”

“We agreed a schedule of maintenance and upgrading and, due to extension of the stadium, have used EYS many more times since. There are many demands on my time but if we have a problem with a shutter then one call to EYS and I know engineers will be onsite quickly and deal with it. It’s one less headache for me! EYS now sponsor Hull Kingston Rovers so it’s a very good relationship”
